
Mari Watanabe, PhD, M.D.

Dr. Watanabe received her medical degree and internal medicine residency training from Nippon Medical School in Tokyo. She received her PhD from Cornell University in animal physiology with a minor in applied mathematics. She has been a postdoctoral fellow at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Northeastern University, and Glasgow University in Scotland. She has two areas of research interest: Nonlinear dynamic analysis of cardiac action potential duration sequences, which has relevance for interpretation of T wave alternans and QT dynamicity, and Heart rate turbulence, an electrocardiographic risk predictor of mortality and sudden cardiac arrest. break; has a visiting scientist appointment at the Technological University of Munich, and is a member of the Heart Rhythm Society.
