Dr. Burton joined the faculty of Saint Louis University Health Sciences Center in June 1985 and developed the very active Hepatobiliary and Pancreas Therapeutic Endoscopy Program of the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology.

He is the medical pancreatologist associated with the Pancreas Transplant Program and Director of the Gastroenterology Physiology Laboratory at St. Mary's Health Center. He is a regional expert in sphincter of Oddi motility disturbances and pancreatic exocrine disorders.

Dr. Burton's clinical research interests are in pancreatic transplantation, chronic and acute pancreatitis, the pharmacologic and encloscopic treatment of the exocrine complications of pancreatitis and the management of sphincter of Oddi disorders. His laboratory research includes investigation into pancreatic fibrogenesis and the physiologic mechanisms regulating pancreatic exocrine secretion Current Address:
