Dr. Miller returned home to St. Louis and joined the Division of General Internal Medicine in 2015 after spending 8 years as faculty at Tulane University and working at Charity Hospital in New Orleans, Louisiana. Dr. Miller is a hospitalist and much of his academic experience has been devoted to medical education. He previously served as clerkship director, sub-internship director, outpatient medicine director, and course director for a number of 4th year medical school electives. He also served as associate program director for the internal medicine residency. During his time at Tulane, Dr. Miller won more than 25 teaching awards.

Dr. Miller is a trained facilitator of the Stanford Faculty Development Program for Clinical Teachers and actively involved in faculty development.

Currently, Dr. Miller serves on the Internal Medicine Executive Committee and the Saint Louis University Hospital Clinical Quality/Utilization Management Committee.

Dr. Miller’s academic interests include medical education, clinical reasoning, quality improvement and patient safety, and high value care.

Dr. Miller is a fellow of the American College of Physicians (ACP), a fellow of the Society of Hospital Medicine (SHM), a member of the Society of General Internal Medicine (SGIM), a member of Clerkship Directors of Internal Medicine (CDIM), a member of Program Directors of Internal Medicine (APDIM), and a member of the Society to Improve Diagnosis in Medicine (SIDM).

Dr. Miller currently serves on the Physicians-in-Training Committee for SHM, the CDIM Council, the Alliance for Academic Internal Medicine (AAIM) Medical Student to Resident Interface Committee, The AAIM Member Services Committee, and is the former Chairman of the Membership Committee for SGIM. He currently serves at the Deputy Editor of Clinical Vignettes for the Journal of General Internal Medicine (JGIM), the journal of SGIM.
