The Combined Internal Medicine and Pediatrics Residency Training Program at Saint Louis University was established in 1981. This residency program provides four years of training to allow residents to meet requirements for board certification in both Internal Medicine and Pediatrics.
The primary goal of the Combined Internal Medicine - Pediatrics Residency Training Program at Saint Louis University is to prepare residents to become independent practitioners of Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, and Adolescent Medicine. Our graduates are skilled in providing both inpatient and outpatient care for infants, children, adolescents, adults, and families.
This well established program has graduated physicians who continue to provide excellent care to adults and children throughout the country. Most of our graduates have chosen to pursue careers in primary care, though some have chosen subspecialty careers in pediatrics and internal medicine. Graduates have the skills they will need for success in whatever their chosen career path may be.
The Combined Internal Medicine and Pediatrics training program uses several facilities. There are three traditional academic, university based, teaching hospitals: Saint Louis University Hospital, John Cochran Veteran's Administration Medical Center and Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital. St. Mary's Health Center is a private, community hospital and the University Medical Group Building is a free standing ambulatory care facility.
