Letter from the Program Director

It is my pleasure to welcome you to the Saint Louis University Internal Medicine Pediatric Residency web site. Thank you for taking a look at our program. The combined Internal Medicine-Pediatrics Residency Program at Saint Louis University was established in 1981. This makes our program one of the older ones in the country. The program is supported by equally strong categorical Internal Medicine and categorical Pediatrics programs and with full support from both chairmen.

The SLU Med-Peds Program has strong residents and we produce graduates who become generalists, hospitalists and subspecialists In addition to our core Med-Peds faculty, SLU has subspecialty faculty who are Med-Peds trained. Our patient population is diverse, drawing from many different ethic groups and a spectrum of social economic backgrounds.

The Med-Peds training at SLU offers a quality curriculum and strong clinical training. We treat the whole patient with competent and compassionate care.

Our four core Med-Peds faculty are dedicated and energetic and have a variety of interests and expertise. Each one has been named to the BEST DOCTORS list from “Best Doctors in America” Best Doctors, Inc. .

Saint Louis, known as the “Gateway to the West”, is an exciting city that has a lot to offer. The city has a world class symphony, Cardinal baseball, Blues hockey and Rams football plus our own SLU Billiken athletic teams. Forest Park is one of the largest city parks in the country and houses our acclaimed Zoo that charges no admission fee.

Please tour the rest of our web site. We invite you to submit an ERAS application to our program. Our faculty and residents are excited about our Med-Peds program and we look forward to meeting you in St. Louis!!

With warmest regards,

Marilyn A. Maxwell M.D.
