M.D.C.M.:
McGill University Faculty of Medicine, 1984
Nephrology Training:
Brigham and Women's Hospital, 1994
Post-Doctoral Training in Developmental Biology and Genetics:
Brigham and Women's Hospital, Harvard Medical School, 1999

Dr. Rauchman received his medical degree at McGill University and obtained his specialty training in Nephrology at Brigham & Women’s Hospital in 1994. He then went on to do post-doctoral research in developmental biology and genetics in the laboratory of Dr. Richard Mass in the Division of Genetics, Brigham & Women’s and Harvard Medical School. He is currently Section Chief in Nephrology at the St. Louis VA and Associate Professor of Internal Medicine. He also holds a secondary appointment in the Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology at St. Louis University.

Board certified in Internal Medicine and nephrology, Dr. Rauchman is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. Membership in professional societies include: American College of Physicians, American Society of Nephrology, the National Kidney Foundation, Society of Developmental Biology and the American Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. The major focus of the Rauchman laboratory is on elucidating the molecular genetic pathways that control kidney development. Using genetically engineered mouse models, classic embryological and biochemical approaches they are investigating how Sall transcription factors and their associated co-regulatory proteins regulate gene expression during nephrogenesis. Recently we have begun to apply the insights gained from our developmental studies to investigate mechanisms of renal regeneration after acute kidney injury.
